Meet Dr. Tara

Hello, I'm Tara O'Leary, Ph.D.

I am a licensed psychologist specializing in neuropsychology and mindfulness based yoga therapy for children and adolescents. I have over 25 years of experience in psychology, as well as specific training in pediatric neuropsychology, medical psychology, therapeutic yoga, mindfulness and ADHD coaching. I earned my Ph.D. in Clinical Developmental Psychology from Suffolk University with a focus on Neuropsychology. I have trained and worked in a variety of settings, including well known medical and psychiatric hospitals, residential treatment centers, and private and public school settings.

My areas of interest with regard to neuropsychological evaluations are reading and other learning disabilities and ADHD/Executive Function deficits. I also have a special interest in PANDAS/PANS and school avoidance. I evaluate children from preK to college.

For therapy, I incorporate yoga and mindfulness techniques to help children cope with attention, learning and executive function deficits, anxiety, mood issues, and general life and academic stress. After seeing the positive general effects of yoga and meditation first hand and reviewing the growing body of research on yoga, exercise, and mindfulness for improving emotional well-being, learning and attention, I became determined to share these benefits with my clients, many of which have trouble verbally expressing and recognizing their thoughts and feelings, comprehending or attending to lengthy verbal discussions, and generally focusing and organizing their thoughts and actions long enough for many traditional therapeutic approaches. I also help support parents with neurodiverse children through yoga and mindfulness.

When not working, I spend time in motion, laughing and navigating life with my husband, 2 daughters, 2 rescue dogs named Hamilton and Daisy, 2 rescue cats named Dalia and Lama, a sweet bunny named Valentina, and numerous foster puppies that grace us with their presence on their journey to a forever home.
